Newman Wachs Racing Ready for FR Americas Opener at Mid-Ohio

Two-car effort with Jordan Missig and Victor Franzoni set to tackle 2020 season

MUNDELEIN, IL (June 24,2020) – Newman Wachs Racing will kick off the 2020 Formula Regional Americas Championship Powered by Honda this coming weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, finally emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown to return to competition. Led by industry veteran Brian Halahan, the team will field a pair of Ligier JS F3 cars for 22-year-old Jordan Missig from Channahon, Illinois and 24-year-old Victor Franzoni, who resides in Coconut Creek, Florida. Missig has been working with NWR for the last year in the Radical Cup North America program, capturing seven wins and 13 podiums enroute to a second-place finish in the overall championship standings. Jordan will drive the team’s #48 gray, black and orange Ligier. Franzoni will also make his FR Americas debut at Mid-Ohio and comes to the NWR squad with an impressive open-wheel resume that includes the 2017 Pro Mazda Championship title.

“We’ve worked extremely hard through this shutdown to prepare our cars and team for this opening weekend of the FR Americas program, and we’re excited to roll both Jordan and Victor onto the track at Mid-Ohio,” offered Halahan. “The level of competition will be strong and I know that everyone on the team has high expectations. I think I can speak for everyone involved in our operation when I say that we’re just really happy to be getting back to the track.”

The drivers will participate in a pair of practice sessions on Thursday and Friday before qualifying for the doubleheader, which will include races on both Saturday and Sunday. Live timing and scoring will be available on the series website (www.framericas.com) and on www.fanracing.live, and live video coverage of the races will be available on www.fanracing.Live.

About Newman Wachs Racing:
Newman Wachs Racing was formed in 2005 by late actor and IndyCar team owner Paul Newman and long-time racing friend Eddie Wachs to aid the development of young drivers in Champ Car’s Cooper Tires Presents the Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda. Drivers who have been part of the NWR program included JR Hildebrand, John Edwards and Simona de Silvestro. After a seven-year hiatus, Newman Wachs Racing has returned to racing, competing in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship on the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires.
