NWR focused on improvement after strong outing at Barber

MUNDELEIN, IL (September 24, 2020) – After a little over a month hiatus to the 2020 Formula Regional America’s season, Newman Wachs Racing returns to competition at the historic 17-turn, 3.74-mile road course of Sebring International Raceway this weekend. Led by Team Manager Brian Halahan, NWR is focused on building on their momentum and will once again put Jordan Missig and Victor Franzoni on-track to continue their chase for race wins and the series championship. Franzoni is coming off his second podium finish of the season, having taken second in Race 1 at Barber Motorsports Park in July, while Missig will chase his second podium of the season this weekend as his rookie open wheel formula car season continues. Franzoni sits third in the championship standings, while Missig is eighth, just three points out of sixth.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to racing,” Halahan commented. “It’s been a long break and we are ready to go for the last part of the season. We’ve spent some time testing with both Victor and Jordan during this downtime and I’m feeling very confident as we head into the end of this season.”

The drivers will participate in a pair of practice sessions on Friday before heading into qualifying late on Saturday morning. The first race of the tripleheader event will be run on Saturday afternoon (3:00 pm) while the second and third races will hit the track on Sunday (10:00 am / 2:00 pm). Live timing and scoring will be available on the series website (www.framericas.com) and both live video coverage and live timing of the races can be enjoyed on www.fanracing.live.

About Newman Wachs Racing:

Newman Wachs Racing was formed in 2005 by late actor and IndyCar team owner Paul Newman and long-time racing friend Eddie Wachs to aid the development of young drivers in Champ Car’s Cooper Tires Presents the Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda. Drivers who have been part of the NWR program included JR Hildebrand, John Edwards and Simona de Silvestro. After a seven-year hiatus, Newman Wachs Racing has returned to racing, competing in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship on the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires. The team has now added the Formula Regional Americas Championship Powered by Honda to their 2020 season schedule.
