MUNDELEIN, IL (July 15, 2020) – Newman Wachs Racing will travel this coming weekend to Alton, Virginia for the second round of the 2020 Formula Regional Americas Championship Powered by Honda at VIRginia International Raceway. Led by industry veteran Brian Halahan, the team will field a pair of Ligier JS F3 cars for 22-year-old Jordan Missig from Channahon, Illinois and 24-year-old Victor Franzoni residing in Coconut Creek, Florida. This will be Franzoni’s first experience at the 17-turn, 3.27-mile track, while Missig has raced there previously in the Radical Cup series, scoring a pair of podium finishes. With Jordan’s track experience and Victor’s open-wheel experience, the team is confident that it will gain another solid haul of championship points.

“We’re going into this race weekend with the goal of challenging for wins with Victor and I hope to have Jordan running inside the top-10 again just like he did a Mid-Ohio,” offered Halahan. “The season started off strongly for us and we will work hard to continue fighting for the top of the podium and those all-important championship points. I’m looking forward to getting to the track and seeing where we stack up.”

The drivers will participate in four test sessions on Thursday and two practice sessions on Friday before qualifying on Saturday morning for the tripleheader event that will include races on both Saturday and Sunday. Live timing and scoring will be available on the series website (www.framericas.com) and on www.fanracing.live, as well as live video coverage of the races will be available on www.fanracing.Live.

Quote: “I’m super excited for VIR!! It’s going to be the second round of the FR Americas, and we’re 100% looking for, I hope, three wins there!! We have more experience after Round 1, so I’m feeling much more in shape after almost a whole year without racing, and I know we’ll be stronger than we were at Mid-Ohio. I have never driven at VIR, but with some help from my teammate Jordan Missig, we’ll be on pace in no time.”

Drivers who have been part of the NWR program included JR Hildebrand, John Edwards and Simona de Silvestro. After a seven-year hiatus, Newman Wachs Racing has returned to racing, competing in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship on the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires. The team has now added the Formula Regional Americas Championship Powered by Honda to their 2020 season schedule.
